Post-Procedure Information

Your hospital Stay

After your stent procedure, you will spend time in a special care unit where nurses will be able to monitor your heart rhythm and blood pressure. You may be instructed to lie flat for several hours, and you may not be allowed to bend the leg that was used to insert the catheter.

Once you have returned to your room, you may be able to eat and drink, and your family may visit, depending on your doctor’s instructions. Eat foods that are light until you are able to sit upright, and drink fluids freely. Your doctor will let you know when you can get out of bed and walk around.

Going Home

Many patients are able to go home the day following the procedure. How long you stay in the hospital will depend on whether you had any difficulties during the procedure and how well you are healing.

Once you’ve had the CYPHER® Stent implanted and you’re back at home, you’ll probably be looking forward to doing some of the things you used to. Give yourself time to heal. Commit to making changes in your lifestyle that will help you maintain a healthy heart. And then enjoy as, slowly, you are able to return to your favorite activities.
