What is Angina?

A common symptom of coronary heart disease is chest pain, sometimes called angina. It occurs when the demand for blood by the heart exceeds the supply provided by the arteries.

Symptoms of Angina

Angina symptoms may take the form of chest discomfort, pain, heaviness, tightness or pressure. You may also have associated pain in neck, jaw, back or arm. Sometimes angina includes profuse sweating, nausea, or shortness of breath.

Angina may be a single symptom or a combination of these symptoms. Sometimes it can be mistaken for indigestion or heartburn. So, when in doubt, check with your doctor about diagnosing heart disease
